To see her highlights of the movie, CLICK HERE.

I got a chance to see Just Wright starring Queen Latifah and Common this past weekend. The movie is in the romantic comedy genre; however there were other underlying messages within the film. I loved the movie and if you haven’t seen it already, you should.

Queen Latifah (Leslie) of course is an outstanding actress. She’s good with whoever her leading man is; whether it be LL Cool J or in this case Common (Scott). Common was sexy in his role as the NBA superstar. Of course, there has to be a conflict, which came in the form of Leslie’s gold digging god sister Morgan (Paula Patton).

I had an interesting discussion of the movie in another forum. As it was brought up, Leslie’s mom (played by Pam Grier) didn’t see her as the “ideal” woman for a ball player. It was evident when she gave a pair of “lucky” earrings to Morgan instead of her own daughter. You could tell Leslie was hurt by these actions. Leslie’s dad however saw not only Leslie’s outward beauty, but her inward beauty.

Leslie was a beautiful woman, but because she was not a certain size, Leslie’s mom and even Morgan didn’t think she stood a chance with an NBA player. Leslie, herself, had doubts about it or else she would have let Morgan know that she did have some type of attraction to Scott. As shallow as Morgan is, I have to give her some credit. She did ask Leslie first how she felt about Scott. When Leslie claimed she had none for Scott, Morgan set her gold digging plans into action.

Scott had to deal with his own internal issues as well. Scott and Leslie had more things in common than Scott and Morgan, but because Morgan looked like society’s idea of beauty, he overlooked Leslie as a romantic interest at first.

What I liked: I love a good romantic story and Just Wright did not disappoint. It was like watching a good romance novel come to life on screen. As I mentioned above, Queen Latifah is a great actress. Her leading man exudes sex appeal–which if it was a novel, he would be the perfect hero. Morgan provided the conflict within the love triangle–an engaging romance story with the perfect ending.

What I didn’t like: I wished we could have seen Leslie and Scott in more romantic settings.

Shelia’s Rating: The moral of the story, although some might think the ideal leading lady should look one way—leading ladies come in all sizes. I give it a Producer’s Pack with a side of Red Hots= Fantabulous. When it comes out on DVD, I will be adding it to my personal movie collection so I can watch it over and over.

Ivan Vanko [Mickey Rourke] the villain in this installment, watches his father’s last dying breath. His anger fueled he sets forth to even the playing field and right a wrong to his family’s name. Pepper, gets elevated at Stark Enterprises while Tony has to do with more than just enemies, his rival, Justin Hammer [Sam Rockwell], the press and the military, but he’s got a personal battle to overcome. Natasha Romanoff [Scarlett Johansson] an undercover S.H.I.E.L.D agent, is sent in by Nick Fury [Samuel L. Jackson] to evaulate Stark’s position to see if he’s an acceptable candidate for an even greater purpose.

When Stark’s promise to the world that no one would be able to mimic his invention for twenty years, is put to the test by Ivan Vanko, who creates a suit comparable to Stark’s and nearly kills him in the process, Stark is disgraced. This sets the wheels in motion for Stark to redeem his invention, his company and family name.

What I liked: ROBERT DOWNEY JR, of course. His natural charm and personality always becomes the binding agent for the overall cast and movie. I also liked to see Sam Rockwell [who's come a long way from his Charlie's Angels days with Drew Barrymore]. I thought Scarlett Johansson did well for her first action film, I bet her hubby Ryan Reynolds is proud. Jon Favreau- I adore this man, as a actor, writer and director, he’s ACES!

What I didn’t like: Samuel L. Jackson. Don’t get me wrong, I respect this actor for his hard work, diligence and skill. He brings that added butter to most project. But lately, I’m just tired of seeing him in certain movies. Like Kill Bill for instance, although it was a cameo and not a major role, I didn’t see the need to pan to the piano player. In Iron Man 2 I think his cameo was to introduce Nick Fury of course, because he may be in a movie called Nick Fury.

Overall, I’m glad that H-wood, is open to a multi-cultural cast in this dynamic build up of movies for The Avengers show down, but I’m not truly sold, at this point, on the idea of SLJ being Nick Fury or in The Avengers.

Kan’s FR2G Rating: A Producer’s Pack w/a side of red Hots -

FANT ABULOUS!

A rash turn of events ensues when the duo decide to eat dinner in the city at posh, hard to get into restaurant. When they are unable to get a table, the pair assume the identity of a couple by the name of Tripplehorn who don’t show up for their reservations. Chased across the city by a couple of crooked cops, the husband and wife uncover a black mail scheme against a popular political figure. Helping the dynamically clumsy duo is Holbrooke, portrayed by Mark Wahlberg who’s builty in black ops security enhanced chick magnet of a loft brings the good guys and the back guys together for a final pow wow.

In cahoots with 21 Laps Entertainment and 20th Century Fox , the romantic comedy “Date Night” by director Shawn Levy (Night at the Museum: Battle of the Smithsonian, Just Married), stars Tina Fey, Steve Carrell, Taraji P. Henson [I can do bad all by myself], James Franco (Spider-Man 3), Mila Kunis (That 70′s Show), Ray Liotta, and Mark Wahlberg ( The Lovely Bones).

What I liked:Tina Fey [love all that she does even the demented spoof like stuff] , Taraji Henson, Ray Liotta, Mark Wahlberg’s abs [made a LONG cameo in the movie]. Need I say more? OF course I do. Date Night has a run of laughs. My favorite scenes are the car chase with J.B. Smoove and Fosters as well as the pole dancing scene with Tina and Steve. Also the rapper turned actor Common is doing well in his film-making journey and I see him crossing over as an actor beautifully.

What didn’t like: I thought Taraji could’ve had at least 1 kick butt scene. Also James Franco, my goodness -he’s hilarious and he needed either that 1 comical show stealing scene, or a different love interests. I like Mila Kunis I just didn’t feel the chemistry in this movie between them.

Kan’s Rating: Combo Pack [3.5 out of 5 stars] It’s not the greatest movie of the year of course, but for its genre it surely entertains and worth checking out. I plan on getting on DVD as soon as it’s available.
