Shelia (Jill Scott) and Troy (Lamman Rucker) overall have a good marriage. Shelia’s insecurity from how Mike (Richard T Jones)  treated her during their marriage plays into how she reacts to Troy in certain situations.  She gets angry when Troy doesn’t want to talk. She feels like he’s rejecting her–but in fact, he’s just dealing with internal issues from being unemployed. He loves Shelia and wants to be her provider.  Mike is still messy as ever. He realizes the mistakes he’s made and wants to make amends with Shelia, but Shelia assures him, she’s happily married. There’s a scene where Shelia does something stupid, but I won’t tell you what it is–you just have to watch the movie to find out.

Angela (Tasha Smith) and Marcus (Michael Jai White) relationship doesn’t lack drama.  Angela was a little over the top but we all have friends who live for the drama.  Marcus actions lead her to believe he’s cheating.  I laughed so hard during some of their scenes. It’s obvious these two nuts love each other, because nobody else will put up with their drama. Drama is normal for them. If they didn’t have it, they would probably divorce.
 
Diane (Sharon Leal) and Terry (Tyler Perry) seem to be doing just great; in fact, so great, that Diane is glowing and everybody notices it; but not so fast. There’s a secret lying in between these two.  You would think with a man at home and two kids, Diane would be too tired for extracurricular activities–think again.  Looks like Marcus isn’t the only one doing some stepping out. Terry’s reaction is surprising, but I like how Perry showed a different angle that could have been explosive.   

 Pat (Janet Jackson) and Gavin (Malik Yoba) are of course seen as the ideal couple. At the end of the retreat, Pat announces something that changes the whole dynamics of their relationship.  The couple has never dealt with the loss of their child as a couple, which has caused them both to internalize their loss. Gavin turns to alcohol and Pat pretends everything is great in the world. The pain of her losing her child was unbearable so Pat shuts down emotionally in her marriage and becomes the Ice Princess. Gavin is upset with the state of their relationship and blames her for their bad marriage. His reaction is one of the most pivotol scenes in the movie.  This causes Pat to snap and you will see one of the best performances Janet Jackson has ever given in her acting career. 

I think Why Did I Get Married Too is Tyler Perry’s best movie to date. I love the drama and surprise twists.  Just when you think you have the story figured out, he throws in another twist. It has an unexpected ending that will have people talking about it long after the movie ends.  

Troy, in my opinion, is an example of a good man–I would love to meet a real Troy. I can’t say this enough but Janet Jackson and Malik Yoba played their scenes well–both award winning performances. I could feel the anguish Pat was feeling when Gavin did what he did (watch movie to find out what).
